The Dodge Challenger is the name of three generations of cars produced by the American company Dodge. The first generation of Challengers was one of two Chrysler E-body cars intended to compete in the pony car market segment and aimed at young affluent buyers in the US. However by the time the car was ready, interest in pony cars was dwindling and although sales were reasonable during 1973, by midway through the following year, production ceased. The low numbers produced, coupled with a legendary status, means that these are now collectors cars.
The Challenger SRT Hellcat can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 199mph. Completing the Hockenheim Short in 1:14.6 and the Motown Mile in 0:56.37, it has 707 horsepower. Alterations have been made internally to increase torque from its supercharged 6.2 liter HEMI engine.
